Day lengths in Silver City also vary based on the season; the shortest day is December 21, while the longest day is June 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silver City is located in the Gila Wilderness, a region of lush river valleys and soaring mountains. Once silver was discovered in the 1870s at La Cienega de San Vicente, the town became a mining hub.
