The Red Hills Desert Garden is the region&#8217;s first desert garden, and is home to more than 5000 species of plants, 200 million-year-old prehistoric footprints, and a rushing 1150-foot stream filled with native fish. It&#8217;s an incredible desert experience! St. George&#8217;s Dinosaur Discovery Site, which is also part of the national park system, features over 1000 petrified dinosaur tracks in a location that is built over a preserved lakebed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Utah Hills area is a great place to go rock climbing, with areas that are still under development. The region offers a variety of climbing opportunities, including sport climbing, which can range from beginner to expert. The best time of year to visit the area is spring or fall, when temperatures are warm enough for swimming and boating. During nighttime, you can see bats flying overhead. It&#8217;s definitely worth checking out during your Utah vacation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you love to camp, you&#8217;ll want to check out the St. George RV Park and Campground. Located right off Interstate 15, it&#8217;s near the city&#8217;s natural surroundings. You&#8217;ll want to bring hiking boots, climbing gear, and a lightweight sleeping bag, as well as a fishing pole, lure, lantern, and flashlight. There are plenty of places to buy these supplies, including a local Ace Hardware store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The climate in St. George is somewhat warmer than the rest of the state. It resembles Las Vegas more than the rest of the state. Despite the high temperatures, monthly average temperatures are still comfortable, with lows in the mid-forties and highs in the upper-sixties. In July, there are more than 60 afternoons over one hundred degrees, and high temperatures are relatively mild. The peak summer temperature window is late June to early August, with the coldest months occurring in mid-September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors to St. George have ample opportunities to explore the area&#8217;s culture and arts scene. The city is a cultural center, hosting a variety of art festivals, museums, and live entertainment. The Tuachahn Center for the Arts is an outdoor amphitheater with a view of the red rock canyon. Other cultural attractions in the area include the St. George Art Festival, which showcases the works of local artists and craftsmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city is home to many parks, golf courses, and recreation areas. There are more than 65 miles of urban walking\/biking trails that run through the city. Parks in the area include the Canyons Softball Complex, Little Valley Softball Complex, Tonaquint Nature Center, and Washington City Rec Center. Other activities include dog parks, urban fishing ponds, two skateparks, and even a mountain bike track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Saint George Temple, built in the 1870s, has played a key role in the settlement of the west. The St. George Tabernacle is the Mormon Church&#8217;s third temple and was the first to be built in Utah after the migration west. The building is a historic landmark with Gothic architectural details. You can also tour pioneer homes.
