One such trail is the Butterfly Hiking Trail, which ends on a boulder ridge. The trail is a short two mile hike. There are a number of hotels in the city, so you&#8217;re sure to find a place that suits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the arrival of European settlers, the area was home to Native American tribes such as the Southern Paiute and the Virgin River ancestral Puebloans. The first European settlers arrived in St. George in 1776 with the Dominguez-Escalante expedition. This group had a large number of descendants in the area. This is why the St. George Temple is the oldest structure in the area.
