The show is scheduled for September 9-11, 2019 at Catoctin High School. The show committee has appointed Rodman Myers as its president. The community is excited to celebrate the community and its people. The show will showcase the arts, music and food of the area. With local vendors, local farmers and local artists, the show is a great way to get to know the community better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are looking for a dining option close to the city, consider the Catoctin Mountain Orchard, which opened in 1948. This 100-acre farm boasts a wide variety of fruits and vegetables grown on the fertile soil of the Eastern Appalachian range. There is also a cut-your-own flowers area, a family-friendly playground, and freshly baked goods. If you&#8217;re looking for something more scrumptious, try the Mountain Gate Family Restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fun activity to participate in will be the annual Robert Kaas Horseshoe Pitching Contest. The Thurmont Regional Public Library will also be holding their annual book sale. Other activities include a quilt and afghan show, and a gallery featuring photographs of the area. All events are free and open to the public. The bridge measures 39 feet, 4 inches long and was named after the nearby historic Western Maryland Railroad Station. Although the bridge was destroyed in a fire caused by arson in 1991, it has been rebuilt using surviving framing. It also includes a pier in the center of the span. This award-winning winery specializes in Cabernet Franc varietals. This family-owned operation first harvested grapes in 2012 and is a great place to taste their wines.
