There are also 22 other soil series, most of which have the word&#8217;stony&#8217; in their names. In addition to the stony soils, other prominent soil types include the brolliar very stony clay loam, the Soldier cobbly loam, and the Lynx-Wineg loam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Verde Valley is located just 100 miles north of Phoenix. Sedona, one of Arizona&#8217;s most famous tourist destinations, is located here. Though this area is surrounded by red-rock peaks, it&#8217;s actually surprisingly green. The Verde River is one of the state&#8217;s few remaining free-flowing rivers. This area is also dotted with historic sites and quirky small towns.
