A prominent artifact from that era is the Flaming Arrow Weathervane in the Yarmouth History Center. The Flaming Arrow Weathervane is an iconic symbol of Yarmouth, and was made by Edward J. Stubbs, a prolific shipbuilder in the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For outdoor lovers, Yarmouth has a number of beautiful parks. The Royal River Park has a 1.3-mile trail along the water. Little John Island Preserve is ideal for birdwatchers, and Bradbury Mountain State Park offers gorgeous views of Casco Bay. For summer beach activities, Sandy Point Beach offers quiet, uncrowded beaches. Whether you want to enjoy a quiet summer day at the beach or stroll through Main Street Village, Yarmouth has something for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1892, Maren Madsen was a twenty-year-old girl returning from a visit with her family in Denmark. She set off walking north of the Yarmouth Junction train depot, keeping her eye on the smokestacks of the Forest Paper Co. mill complex. She crossed narrow train trestle planks on her hands and knees. She was eager to get back to work and see her friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the many industries in Yarmouth, the Baker&#8217;s Falls were the most prolific. In 1805, a grist mill, a carding mill, a nail mill, and a fulling mill were constructed. In 1830, the Yarmouth Paper Company was established and began making paper pulp. A long stretch of Mill Street was developed for the company, and it expanded to ten buildings covering ten acres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town of Yarmouth has 1 four-year public college. In 2010, there were 5,255 undergraduate students attending public colleges in Yarmouth. In 2020, 1,644 degree-seeking students will graduate from one of the public colleges. In addition to the four-year schools, Yarmouth has one community college that offers two-year associate&#8217;s degrees.
