In addition to its educational institution reputation, Waterville is also home to a number of other colleges and universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town’s trails offer a diverse range of activities. A half-mile loop follows the Inland Woods Trail, which is lined with old tote roads that parallel stone walls. The second half of the loop is a single-track bike path with a few miles of twisty single-track sections. The trail network encompasses a variety of terrain and allows users to explore the town’s natural beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located along the banks of the Kennebec River, Waterville Maine is an industrial, manufacturing and educational center. It is also the home of Colby College, one of the country’s leading art museums. In addition to museums and cultural institutions, the town’s downtown features interesting shops, boutiques, and restaurants. In 1895, the Elmwood Hotel opened its doors for business. The proprietors marketed the hotel as a well-kept establishment and convenient to attractions in the town. In 1908, Lombard also invented a log hauler that featured caterpillar treads, making it possible to transport many more logs at once. It was the largest outdoor activity in the town, and it was considered the state’s premiere recreational facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town’s name comes from its location on the Kennebec River. In 1870, the town’s population numbered around 4,852 people. Today, the population is 11,844 and is the third largest city in Maine. It is located 169 miles north of Boston. The local French-Canadian community was founded in the late 19th century and became the center of the town. It has now become a thriving city in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the low density of people per square mile, Waterville has become a thriving community. The 2010 census recorded a population of 15,722 residents. Housing units in the city average 200.9 per square mile, making it one of the most populated cities in the state. The city also boasts two private colleges: the Maine State Museum and the Colby College Museum of Art. These two museums are located on the same campus, and both are free to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city is an important center for tourism in the central part of Maine. With its two colleges, it is a cultural and medical center.
