Its economy is largely based on tourism, although there are several industries within the city that produce a high percentage of the town&#8217;s GDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are into hiking, the city has several options. There are several hiking trails in White Sands National Park and in the Lincoln National Forest. Visitors can pick up maps and other resources at the park&#8217;s headquarters. For the most challenging hikes, you can go hiking through the rugged Sacramento Mountains. For a family-friendly day out, there&#8217;s nothing quite like a day trip to the Rocket City Family Fun Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors to the city will also enjoy the White Sands National Monument, which lies about 15 minutes north of the city. The monument covers 275 square miles of desert and is the world&#8217;s largest gypsum dune field. The visitor center, built between 1936 and 1939, provides panoramic views and scenic sunset strolls. The park also boasts the largest pistachio tree in the world. This is another great place to spend a day or night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a nature retreat, Alamogordo is a great place to be. Its quaint downtown area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, and camping. You can even find a zoo here, which has a small museum dedicated to the Native American people. So, no matter what your interest, you can find a wonderful getaway in the state of New Mexico!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the town&#8217;s scenic landscape, the city is also home to two major military installations: the Holloman Air Force Base and the White Sands Missile Range. Whether you want to explore the area or stay in the city for a while, there is plenty to do in Alamogordo, New Mexico. And if you love to travel, there are many activities that you can take advantage of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For hiking enthusiasts, Alamogordo is a great place to go. The city has many trails, including a mountain bike trail that stretches for several miles through a canyon. If you&#8217;re looking for an easy, scenic trail, head for Cloudcroft. It&#8217;s easy to find Grandview Trail by Highway 82. From the city center, you can reach it by FR162C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city is home to the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts. The Flickinger Center for Performing Art is located downtown and hosts live performances, musicals, and dance recitals. Throughout the year, the community is home to some of the best local talent. You can purchase tickets at the Flickinger Center&#8217;s website. It&#8217;s not hard to find something in Alamogordo.
