You can go to Adairsville State Park, which is located in the center of town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town was once the site of the Gravel House Battle, which is still celebrated in Walt Disney&#8217;s movie, &#8220;The Great Locomotive Chase.&#8221; The railroad depot was built in 1847. As the railroad reached the town, the population quickly grew around the town square. In 1854, the town was incorporated, and soon became known as the &#8216;Granary of the State.&#8217; Today, the city is a thriving agricultural center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city is home to several historic sites, including the historic Barnsley Resort, which was built in the 1840s. The estate is now a hotel and features dining, a spa, and gardens. The town is known as &#8220;the Grandar&#8217;s Row.&#8221; The Adairsville Historic District is home to the oldest church in the state and is rich in history. During the Civil War, the town became a Confederate stronghold. During the Great Locomotive Chase, the steam locomotive The General passed through the town. The townspeople celebrated this moment with a three-day street festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town is home to many historical sites, including the Gravel House Battle and the Great Locomotive Chase. The Great Locomotive Chase was a Civil War battle that was made famous in Walt Disney&#8217;s &#8220;Cars&#8221; movie. The first weekend of October celebrates the Great Locomotive Race. It is named after Chief John, a Scottish settler who married a Cherokee girl. Its development was influenced by the railroad. In 1864, the Western and Atlantic Railroad passed through the town. In the same year, the Confederate Army entered the town. The Union army was repelled on May 18. Its residents escaped the village during the war.
