For a more laid-back vacation, try a day trip to Nantucket Island, where you can rent a cottage and swim in the Atlantic Ocean. You can also explore historic buildings in these towns and visit the nearby Vineyard Winery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The towns of Barnstable and Hyannis are home to seven distinct villages, each with its own charm. The main village, Hyannis, is a business district, with a variety of boutiques, restaurants, and specialty shops. Other villages include Osterville, which has a picturesque Main Street lined with antiques. In Centerville, you can see the quaint Old Customs House and take a stroll down Craigville Beach. The town of Cotuit is home to the Cotuit Center for the Arts and the Cahoon Museum of Fine Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The towns of Barnstable and Hyannis are located 15 and 20 miles from Cape Cod, respectively. Depending on your preferred mode of transportation, you can easily reach these charming towns. For a road trip, you can take a car or plane to get to Barnstable and Hyannis. Once you&#8217;re here, you can spend the evening strolling along Hyannis Harbor and visiting HyArts artists&#8217; shacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A short drive from the cities of Boston, the towns of Barnstable and Hyannis are home to beautiful beaches and a vibrant culture. Besides the beaches, Barnstable has a large population center. There are eleven public beaches, but some are privately owned and reserved for town residents. Visitors pay for parking, but if you bike or walk to the beach, you won&#8217;t pay any fees. And if you arrive late, you may not have to pay the parking fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A short walk away is the Hyannis waterfront. Each spring, the town welcomes the artists&#8217; shacks, called Artist Shanties. The shacks are brightly colored sheds where local artists sell their wares to passersby. If you&#8217;re a fan of local art, you can also visit the city&#8217;s maritime museum and the harborfront. And if you have children, there&#8217;s always Kandy Korner, a candy bar and a fun, family-oriented playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The downtown of Hyannis offers restaurants with delicious menus. Many of these establishments are located downtown, near the Town Hall. They offer a variety of food options from Italian, Thai, and French cuisine. You&#8217;ll also find plenty of fresh seafood in this seaside town. A trip to the harborside is sure to delight any child.
