It has a vibrant downtown area and a growing business district along Rees Street. The community is known for its friendly people and a welcoming atmosphere. It is also close to many popular tourist destinations in the area, such as Lafayette and New Iberia. It is also home to the Red Swamp Crawfish and the White River crawfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city was founded by Acadian pioneer Firmin Breaux in 1771. He purchased land in the area from wealthy New Orleans merchant Jean Francois Ledee as a French land grant. By 1786, Firmin Breaux owned large tracts of land in the Lafayette area. In 1774, he registered a branding iron and was one of the largest property owners in the Bayou Teche area. The town officially incorporated in 1859 and is home to the University of Louisiana Lafayette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breaux Bridge is home to a number of historical sites, including a historic railroad depot. Its people have lived in the city for 250 years, and the Breaux family has lived there for even longer. In 1799, a Frenchman named Firmin breaux moved up from the parish of St. James and gave the Breaux family land for their new community. He built a pedestrian bridge, which was built with wood, but his son later built a wooden bridge that was used by wagons. The wooden bridge became an iconic landmark in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the city&#8217;s beautiful architecture, visitors can also enjoy the local culture. You&#8217;ll be able to experience authentic Cajun culture in this southern Louisiana town. While the town has many quaint downtown streets and a large number of restaurants, you can enjoy both traditional Cajun music and funky Zydeco. The best way to explore the local area is to drive to the bridge and explore the historic downtown. Its ambiance and atmosphere will make you want to stay here for a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the city has a plethora of historic landmarks, the town also has some of the best seafood in the state. The crawfish is known throughout the world, and it is worth visiting the historic downtown. In addition to great food and wine, Breaux Bridge is home to some of the best alligators in the world.
