Located near the Colorado-New Mexican border, Chama is nestled in the Rocky Mountains. The town is about 7 miles south of the state’s border with Colorado. The population is mostly Native American, with a few Mexican-Americans and some white people. You can find Chama in the area of Santa Fe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can visit the historic El Chorro Falls, a waterfall located south of Chama. This cascade is one of the highest waterfalls in the world when it is active. The fall is caused by spring runoff from the Brazos Cliffs. The waterfall is only active for a few weeks each year, and is usually gone by the end of June. You can see the cascades while driving along US 64, but be sure to follow the trail to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you’re a hiker or just want to spend the day outdoors, Chama is a beautiful place to explore.
