The current Saturday market in Corvallis started in 1991. The first Saturday market had only four vendors and Ron Spisso, a local farmer, was hired to organize the market. After four years, the market expanded enough to hire its own director and hire more farmers to help run it. By 1995, the market was so popular that it hired employees and had more staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Corvallis, you can walk along the riverfront. Several nature parks are located nearby, including the Jackson-Frazier Wetlands. The Albany Station is a regional bus hub. Amtrak serves the city and stops in Albany, which is halfway between Eugene and Portland. Both cities are close to the Corvallis International Airport and are accessible by car or public transportation. A quick trip to the airport will give you access to the Portland-Eugene line in just under two hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the best things about Corvallis is its outdoor recreation. During early autumn, the Oregon State University campus turns into a stunning display of color. If you&#8217;d prefer a quieter day, you can head to Benton County Park, home to one of the many nature parks in the region. You can also take the Mount Jefferson Talgo train to Eugene. The train stops in Albany, right outside the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re traveling during the fall, you&#8217;ll have a hard time finding something to do. There are a few national chain stores in Albany, but most of them close at a decent hour. And while many bars and restaurants remain open well into the night, there&#8217;s a high chance that police in Corvallis will crack down on anyone who doesn&#8217;t keep their eyes shut. Fortunately, there&#8217;s a Costco in the heart of the town, and a Walmart mega-store in Lebanon. Both cities also tend to be less expensive. The local gas and fast food prices in Albany are about a dollar cheaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both cities have a great downtown and are both full of fun activities. While Corvallis is the more picturesque town, Albany is the more industrialized and dirty of the two. The two cities are located near each other and have a thriving agricultural and engineering industry. While the city of Corvallis is more eco-friendly, Albany is more industrial. This area is ideal for visitors who want to explore the beauty of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Albany&#8217;s historic downtown is more hip and trendy, Corvallis has a vibrant downtown with shops, restaurants and canals running through the town. The area is home to OSU, which is a university with a strong agricultural science department. The city also has a thriving farming community and many other industries that benefit from its agricultural research.
