If you&#8217;re a boater, you&#8217;ll be thrilled to know that you&#8217;re not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town was first called Annemessex Neck and was a fishing village. Later, it was known as Somers Cove after a Dutch explorer named Benjamin Summers. After the discovery of the commercial potential of the seafood that is produced in the local area, the town grew into a thriving city. The Pennsylvania Railroad came to town in 1894, and John W. Crisfield brought the railroad to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town has an excellent public park located on the Wicomico River. It is a quiet, small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Several small businesses have established themselves in the area. The community&#8217;s public recreation area was opened in 1963, and is adjacent to the city of Crisfield. It boasts 30 miles of water trails and seven miles of white sand beachfront. In addition to a community park, it also offers half-day and full-day kayak and canoe rentals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town has two public docks. The city dock is located at the end of Main Street (MD 413) and is used by passenger ferries, large commercial ships, and mail. The county dock, which is located on Brick Kiln Road, is used mostly for freight. There is also a smaller harbor on the Bayside, which is mostly used by smaller workboats. The city&#8217;s two public parks are in close proximity to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 2009, the city has a population of 2,545 people. The city is a small town, but it has plenty of attractions to offer. Located on the southern Delmarva Peninsula, the city has a population of approximately 2,500. Its total area is 3.06 square miles (7.93 km2). The percentage of land is about 50\/50. The town is extremely flat and has no elevation.
