It has a population of 931 at the 2018 estimate, compared to 840 in 2000. The town lies just south of the confluence of the Tanana River and the lower part of the Upper Valley&#8217;s Delta River. It is located just north of Big and Little Drakensberg glaciers, and is located at the confluence of the two rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 1970 U.S. Census, Delta Junction was incorporated as a city. It is a picturesque agricultural community and is home to more than 500 bison. Visitors to the area will enjoy sweeping views of the Alaska Range and the Delta River, and can engage in a variety of outdoor sports, including fishing, boating, hiking, and rafting. Its unique climate and scenery make it an ideal location for visitors who enjoy the outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The town has a small hotel, a campground, and bed and breakfast establishments. Camping is available in the nearby Quartz Lake State Recreation Area. There are two campgrounds, one for tents and one for RVs. You can camp on the Lost Lake if you prefer a less developed area. There are also more amenities at the Quartz Lake campsite. You may also want to check out the quaint community&#8217;s historic buildings. There are many reasons to visit the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before becoming a second-class city, Delta Junction was a small telegraph station. Its population was just about 200 people in the 1920s, but it quickly grew during the Chisana Gold Strike in 1913. In the late 1930s, the government decided to promote the development of an agricultural industry in the area. Today, barley is the primary feed grain grown in the town. This helped it become one of the fastest growing cities in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are looking for a good place to watch the Aurora Borealis, Delta Junction is the best place to visit. The northern lights are best seen from September to March, but they can be seen any time of the year. Although the northern lights are only visible at certain times of the night, it is best to watch them at the right times of the day. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the beautiful light show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find several activities to do in Delta. The town&#8217;s renowned for its scenic views. The state&#8217;s iconic Mount Shand, Mount Deborah, and Hess Mountains are only a few of the mountains you can climb. The area is a popular spot for hiking and cycling trails. There are plenty of trails for all skill levels. The town has a small grocery store.
