Delta Junction, Alaska is a small city in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area. The population was 931 at the 2010 census. The population was 840 in 2000 and 958 at the 2018 estimate. The town is located just south of the confluence of the Tanana River and the nearby tributary, the Bigdelta. In 2010, the city’s population was approximately 950. It is one of Fairbanks’ older suburbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, this small town is home to a small town that grew up around the Delta River. In the early 1900s, the Delta River was a tributary to the Chena River, which is the largest river in the state. In the 1920s, the area was chosen as the site for a buffalo importation program. The bison were moved from Montana to a 90000-acre tract of land, which became known as the Buffalo Center. The community incorporated in 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Triangle, the Highway’s End Farmer’s Market is a popular place to buy locally-grown produce and other homegrown products. The town also hosts the Deltana Fair in mid-summer. The event includes livestock and produce exhibits, crafts, and tractor pulls. There are a number of tourist attractions in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors to Delta Junction can experience the Trans-Alaska Pipeline at mile 275.4. There are several places to eat in the town, including a brewery.
