The Flathead Indian Reservation is located on the Flathead River in western Montana. The reservation is home to the Kootenai, Pend d’Oreilles and Bitterroot Salish tribes. The area offers the best of both worlds to visitors. This is the perfect place to learn more about these native people and their cultures. It also has beautiful natural scenery, such as waterfalls and a gorge that is perfect for a hike.

The Flathead Indian Reservation is situated north of Kalispell and is the fourth largest Indian reservation in the U.S. at about 1.3 million acres. It is home to around 65% of the 7,443 tribal members. The 1.3 million acres are home to the Kootenai, Bitterroot Salish and upper Pend d’Oreille tribes. It is home to several communities and annual cultural events, including the Arlee and Standing Arrow Pow Wows.

The Flathead Indian Reservation was established in 1855 near Missoula. In 1855, 18 tribal leaders signed a treaty with the U.S. government in which the Indians agreed to sell the land they occupied. Two-thirds of the land they owned was ceded to white settlers. Since the late 19th century, the Flathead have been gradually buying back land and reclaiming their homeland.

The Flathead Indians were given the land in 1855 as a result of the Treaty of Hellgate. This reservation is located on the eastern shore of Flathead Lake and includes much of the region around Flathead Lake. During this time, the federal government began allotting individual Indian households with land in order to encourage them to adopt European-American ways. This practice is now considered un-American and is prohibited in Montana.

The Flathead Indian Reservation has 24 communities. The majority of the communities are predominantly white, though there are a few clusters of Indians. The reservation has a total population of approximately 1.4 million. Of this, a quarter is made up of Native Americans. Throughout the year, many of the tribes celebrate Native American heritage and culture. There are several festivals and celebrations that celebrate the culture. For the most part, the flathead Indian reservation is an excellent place to learn about the history of the area.

Originally, the Flathead reservation was located in the Bitterroot Valley. In 1872, the Flathead tribe sold a portion of the reservation to the Northern Pacific Railroad. The railroad was built in this valley. This move took place on August 27, 1872. The Flathead Tribes were then relocated to the Jocko Reservation. The agreement between the two tribes led to the establishment of a large-scale tribal government in the area.

The Flathead Reservation is a part of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The Bitterroot Salish are the tribes in the region. The Upper Pend d’Oreille is the county seat of the Flathead Indian Reservation. The local university, Salish Kootenai College, is a tribally controlled college. Students can earn a two-year degree or a four-year degree while on the reservation.
