The city of Espanola, New Mexico, is primarily in Rio Arriba County, but it is also located in Santa Fe County. The town was established in 1925 as a railroad village and was named after the old Indian town of San Juan de los Caballeros. Its name was adopted in 1926. In the same year, the city incorporated. It has been home to over 8,000 residents and continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town enjoys a warm, semi-arid climate. The highest average temperature is in July, while the lowest is in January. The average precipitation is five inches per month, with maximum rains in August. This city is located on the border of New Mexico and Arizona. It is a good place to visit if you have a desire to see the red rock country. The area is home to many small and historic towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions and activities in the area. One of the most popular is the Spanish mission in the town. A beautiful plaza and a bandstand are among the attractions there. The imposing archways commemorate the defeat of the Moors in Spain and the voyage of Columbus in 1492. You can also visit the Frank Bond Home, which dates back to the Territorial period. The home displays early Espanola history and Victorian craftsmanship. Located in north central New Mexico, Espanola is the gateway to red-rock country. A short distance northwest of the city on US Highway 84, Abiquiu is home to the Manmade Lake on the Rio Chama River, where you can go fishing or boating. During fall and winter, the lake is drawn down, but you should check out the weather forecast before you visit. Another great destination in the area is Ghost Ranch, a retreat center for the Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
