After the war, the US Government abandoned the fort and let it fall into disrepair. Then, Secretary of War William Endicott chaired a board that led to the construction of new concrete batteries. Between 1895 and 1900, the fort was renovated with new fire control and electricity. It was also fitted with communications equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Morgan Alabama is a historical site and has a rich history. It was the site of major warfare in the Battle of Mobile Bay.
