Fort Morgan was the largest military post in Alabama between 1900 and 1923, and served as an important tool during the early 1900s. The Union Navy occupied Mobile Bay and captured several of the ships in General Daniel Morgan&#8217;s flotilla. After taking control of the city of Mobile, Union forces began the siege of Fort Morgan. They won the battle, but the Confederates had the upper hand.
