Here are a few reasons to visit Georgetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamill House Museum &#8211; The town&#8217;s most iconic landmark, the Alpine Hose Number 2 was built in 1879 for William Hamill, a famous silver baron. He commissioned the building to be built with the best materials possible and brought the furnishings from England. The Gothic Revival building still has the original details and is listed on the National Historic Landmark list. There is a National Historic Landmark district in Georgetown, which provides a glimpse into the town&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ample dining options &#8211; Whether you&#8217;re visiting for business or pleasure, there are numerous restaurants in Georgetown. The Georgetown Trading Post offers handcrafted goods including jewelry, woven apparel, and leather goods. In 1954, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America purchased the Hotel de Paris and turned it into a museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1860, Georgetown had over 3,000 people, all of whom were successful miners. The town prospered, building churches, shops, a schoolhouse, and an opera house. While its silver-mining days are long gone, Georgetown maintained a steady production and developed a stable economy outside the mining economy. The city built stately homes and prominent commercial buildings, and the railroad linked to Denver was completed in 1877.
