The descendants of those enslaved were honored in Grand Coteau during an inaugural event of the organization. Its superior general and provincial established the Sacred Heart&#8217;s Committee on Slavery, Accountability, and Reconciliation to address the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The community&#8217;s population was diverse. Among the 377 households, 29.7% of the population was younger than 18 years. Twenty-four percent were 25-44 year old, and 13.3% of the population was 65 years old or older. The median age of residents was 36 years old, and the male-female ratio was 87.4 to one hundred for those aged 18-and-over.
