The Crawfords were able to expand the hotel after the popularity of the area. By the early twentieth century, Crawford Notch was home to four Grand Hotels. These included the White Mountain House, the Willey House, the Summit House on Mount Washington, and the Twin Mountain houses. During this time, Samuel Bemis built a stone mansion at the site of the Abel’s cabin. While the park offers many activities, the park offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
You can visit the state park’s historic buildings and the Abel House. The Abel Crawford Tavern is the oldest building in the area, and is still in use today.
