15 Best Campgrounds near Gualala and Point Arena California

April 28, 2022 | More: Campgrounds

If you’re looking for a place to visit in Mendocino County, California, you might want to check out Gualala and Point Arena. These coastal towns are located a little over 130 miles north of San Francisco. Both Gualala and Point Arena have small towns with lots of history to see. You can check out the historic Point Arena Lighthouse and a gift shop. You can take your family and friends to the Point Arena Lighthouse for a look at its history.

Point Arena is a coastal hamlet about 14 miles north of Gualala. Although it is the smallest city in Mendocino County, it is one of four actual cities. The city was incorporated to regulate the liquor licenses. Its historical significance is reflected in the many buildings from the turn of the century. The Point Arena Lighthouse was built by the Spanish in 1890 and is a symbol of the community’s rich history.

In the 1950s, the Navarro River was a major inland river in Mendocino County. A timber mill was located here until the late 1800s. The Irishman John Galloway, who lived in the area between 1866 and 1868, saw the giant redwoods as an ideal source of wood for building. Eventually, the town began to grow and prosper. Its history and culture were shaped by the town’s economic development.

This small city on the coast of Northern California is also worth a visit. The town is dotted with colorful plants, including a lighthouse. The city is also home to gray whales and the majestic coastal ridge range. The area is home to many artists, poets, and musicians. You will find plenty of art shows, concerts, and community activities to enjoy. If you’re looking for a place to visit, consider Gualala and Point Arena.

For nature lovers, you can visit the B. Bryan Preserve. The 110-acre preserve has created an environment for the endangered Rothschild Giraffes. You can also take a tour of the Point Arena Lighthouse. Visiting the lighthouse is a wonderful way to get an up close view of the coastline. In addition, you can also rent a fishing pole from the Dupont Mercantile.

In addition to the historic Lighthouse, the historic Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands are home to a thriving performing arts community. You’ll find an interesting blend of Native American history and early Californian culture at this site. The area is also home to the only land-based portion of the California Coastal National Monument, the Cabo de Fortunas. If you’re looking for a place to experience the history of California’s coastline, this place should be on your list of destinations.

If you’re planning to camp in the area, you’ll find a lot to see. A walk along the beach is a great way to get a feel for the local culture. If you’re an animal lover, a visit to Point Arena Lighthouse will provide you with a unique perspective of the local wildlife. The Lighthouse and Point Arena Lighthouse are located just south of Point Arena, and you can see them from the campground.
