15 Best things to Do in Martha’s Vineyard

December 21, 2021 | More: Martha's Vineyard| Things to Do

The Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard lies south of Cape Cod. This island is a mix of harbor towns, lighthouses, sandy beaches, farmland, and historic sights. It’s only accessible by boat and is known for its wineries and lobster. The commercial center of the island is the town of Oak Bluffs, which is known for its Carpenter Gothic cottages and iconic carousel. The entire area is a must-see for visitors.

For the more culturally adventurous, Menemsha is a classic New England fishing village and was used as a movie location for the famous Jaws film. In Oak Bluffs, the locals enjoy fresh local fish and vegetables. They also enjoy eating at Back Door Donuts and a trip to Edgartown, where they can watch celebrities frolic. You can also catch a show here, go to a museum, or just relax on the beach.

The town of Edgartown exudes a charming charm, with white whaling captain houses and quaint boutiques. While there, take the time to wander around, browse stores, and enjoy ice cream. The island is home to many celebrities and has an active arts and culture scene that is full of sophisticated experiences all year long. Whether you’re interested in art or music, you’ll find plenty of shops to explore in Edgartown.

A visit to Lucy Vincent Beach in the village of Chilmark is a must for any vacationer to Martha’s Vineyard. You can get a pass from the town hall to visit the beach, which has fine sand and large rocks dotted around. There are cliffs to protect this lovely beach from the winds and waves. The area is not overcrowded, so you can swim in complete privacy. You’ll be glad you did.

Visitors to the island will love the secluded, natural beauty of the island. There are a number of historic buildings and landmarks, which are worthy of visiting. There are also plenty of beaches on the island, and there’s a lot to do while on vacation. During the day, you can enjoy the sunset at the Menemsha public beach. The picturesque scenery and the beautiful oceanside are sure to make your holiday to Martha’s Vineyard an unforgettable experience.

You can spend the entire day bird watching on Martha’s Vineyard. The Felix Neck Wildlife Refuge, which is located near Edgartown, is a perfect place to observe these creatures. You can also visit the Japanese Gardens in Chappaquiddick. In addition to birdwatching, you can also visit South Beach, where cool kids hang out. While there, you can enjoy the scenic views and the quaint village. You can even kayak on the island.

A popular summer colony, Martha’s Vineyard is situated south of Cape Cod and includes the smaller Chappaquiddick Island. While the two islands are sometimes separated by storms, they are rarely in close proximity and cannot be seen from the mainland. During the summer, it’s best to avoid driving on the island during the peak tourist season. Moreover, parking on the island is limited, so make reservations well in advance.
