July 11, 2022 | More: Salem OR| Things to Do

Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or an evening filled with fun, you’ll find it in Salem. This city is Oregon’s capital, and it’s home to an array of things to see and do. Listed below are some of the most popular things to do in Salem. Keep in mind, though, that some of these attractions may be closed due to global health and safety concerns. In these cases, we’ve put together a list of the most exciting things to do in Salem.

If you want to spend a day in a beautiful outdoor space, check out Riverfront City Park. This 26-acre urban park features a carousel, walking trails, boat docks, and a children’s playground. While you’re there, you can check out the Eco-Earth Globe located by the pedestrian bridge. This is a great place to bring your kids for a picnic and some fun! Also, make sure to check out the Willamette Heritage Center to learn about Salem’s colorful history and diverse population.

Those looking for shopping opportunities should check out the nearby Lancaster Mall. It has a Best Buy and a Regal Cinema. Alternatively, the city’s Center Mall features local goods, including boutiques and restaurants. The Cascade Mountains are also close by and offer some of the Northwest’s most beautiful hiking trails. And if you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, try visiting Sister, a small town with wooden sidewalks and cute boutique shops.

Salem offers a number of activities for families and is also a great place to visit for a day trip. The largest recreational space in the city is Minto-Brown Island Park, located right along the Willamette River. This beautiful park offers walking trails, fishing, and paddle boats. It also has a boat dock. During the summer, the Deepwood Museum & Gardens host numerous events, such as concerts, art and music festivals.

While visiting Salem, you can also take a trip to Willamette Mission State Park. This park is home to Mission Lake, and you can hike, bike, or horseback ride there. This park also has an estimated 250-year-old black cottonwood tree. The Oregon Garden has several picnic sites and green spaces. Whether you choose to see a zoo or relax by the river, you’ll find a lot to do in Salem.

Wineries are another way to spend your time in Salem. Several excellent wineries are located throughout the city. The oldest winery in the city is Honeywood Winery, and it has been producing wine since 1934. They offer a variety of specialty wines, as well as vinifera and specialty fruit wines. Tours are free, and tastings are offered seven days a week. The Bethel Heights Vineyard is another winery that has a strong focus on sustainability. Whether you’re looking for a great tasting wine, a scenic view, or a unique item, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste.

A trip to Salem would not be complete without a visit to the Willamette Heritage Center. This five-acre campus features fourteen historical sites and displays. Highlights include the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, which contains machinery from the 19th and early 20th century. You can also find a cafe on the property, where you can enjoy a drink or meal while watching your children play. Super Bounce of Salem is another great place to take the family. The giant inflatables and interactive center are sure to be a hit with both adults and children alike.
