Santa Barbara, California, is one of the top vacation spots in Southern California, where tourists and locals alike flock. For those who like the outdoors, hiking in Santa Barbara offers plenty of scenic options. One popular hiking trail is the 7 Falls Trail, which begins at Santa Barbara Mission and extends to Tunnel Road. The trail consists of dirt paths, which require some wading upstream and scaling rocks along the way. There are several waterfalls along the way. The trail is best suited for experienced hikers and is approximately three and a half miles roundtrip.

The city’s natural beauty is also evident in the parks and trails. Parma Park, which covers over 200 acres (80.9 hectares), features open green spaces and five connected hiking trails through chaparral and woodland. There are even hang gliders who land at this spot. The Parma Park trail is the perfect place for hiking with a dog! It offers scenic views and is moderately difficult. There are plenty of options for hiking with dogs, as well.

Summers in Santa Barbara are warm and sunny. Average temperatures in August reach 73 degrees Fahrenheit. The coolest month is December, with temperatures averaging 43 degrees. The most pleasant months are July and August. While the weather can be a bit unpredictable, the mild climate is ideal for outdoor activities, including beach volleyball. Its five islands have been isolated from the mainland for thousands of years, which has resulted in their unique plant life and rugged beauty. The city was relatively unaffected by the Civil War. The devastating drought of 1863, however, brought an end to the Rancho Period. Most cattle died and ranchos were broken up. As the city developed, a bank was opened by Mortimer Cook, a local businessman who later became mayor. The city’s first gold bank, the National Gold Bank of Santa Barbara, was opened in 1873. Stearns Wharf improved commercial and tourist access.
