The town is located 13 miles south of Myrtle Beach and 21 miles north of Georgetown. The town of Murrells Inlet is home to two public schools. Seaside Elementary School and St. James High School are both part of the Horry County School District. Another popular attraction in Murrells Inlet is the Brookgreen Gardens, which is home to one of South Carolina’s National Historic Landmarks. These gardens preserve historic sites that have significant connections to American historical figures. You can visit the last resting place of Aaron Burr’s daughter, Theodosia. In addition to being a historical site, Brookgreen Gardens also boasts a beautiful, serene environment with over 1,400 sculptures.

The Murrells Inlet waterfront community is a thriving place with a rich history and natural beauty. It’s a little less crowded than Myrtle Beach but is still rich in Carolina culture. In addition to seafood, Murrells Inlet is also home to the oldest waterfront district on the Grand Strand. The town’s name is derived from English colonist John Morrall, who founded it in 1731. The harbor was used to ship goods to the British and Northern Colonies.
