Wilmington, Vermont is a small town in Windham County, Vermont. The town’s population was 2,255 as of the 2020 census. Many of its residents have been in Wilmington for generations. Whether you’re moving to the area or just visiting, Wilmington has something for everyone. Whether you’re seeking an outdoor adventure, or simply looking for a quiet, relaxing town, you’ll find it in Wilmington. In addition to a quaint downtown and a thriving business community, Wilmington is home to numerous recreational opportunities.

In addition to being a great outdoor retreat, Wilmington is a hub of artistic activity. Wilmington’s landscape is dominated by rolling hills and craggy peaks. Wilmington is adjacent to Molly Stark State Park, which contains the famous lookout tower on Mount Olga. Hiking trails are plentiful throughout the park, which is also ideal for cross-country skiing. Wilmington’s restaurants, art galleries, and shops all have a unique sense of humor.

Whether you’re looking for something a little more active, try hiking the Haystack Mountain Trail. This scenic hike is five miles long and features beautiful views. Visitors to Wilmington may be interested in dining at Dot’s Diner. This family-run diner has been a local staple for more than forty years. Despite the storms that have ravaged the town in 2011, Wilmington has been able to rebuild its local business as a community. As such, it’s still a special place for Wilmington, Vermont and the Southern Vermont communities. In fact, the New York Times recently featured a story about Dot’s Diner and their restoration efforts.

The town of Wilmington is located in the southern end of the Green Mountains. The town is nestled between Brattleboro to the east and Bennington to the west. With Route 9 running through the town, visiting the Wilmington area is less than thirty minutes away from these two large towns. Additionally, Route 100 and Interstate 84 connect Wilmington to the rest of Vermont. In addition, Wilmington is an excellent location to base a vacation with your family. This small town offers several options for outdoor activities.

If you want to explore the natural beauty of the area, head to Hogback Mountain. The mountain features a gift shop, museum, distillery, and restaurant. Trails on the mountain offer an excellent view of the region and can be accessed from the north side of route 9. Parking is located adjacent to the gift shop on the hill. In addition to hiking, there’s also an ice rink and a deck overlooking the river.
