Florence is an enchanting city located on the beautiful Tuscan coastline in Italy. The city is known worldwide for its outstanding contributions to culture, art and design, but also has an impressive architectural and musical tradition. Florence enjoys a reputation as being one of the most romantic cities in the world, famous for the passionate art and music that has inspired many writers, artists and composers. Here are some of the top 15 places to go when you are planning a family holiday in Florence.

If you want to see the famous Piazza della Signoria with your own two eyes then the square known as “Piazza del Popolo” is the place for you. The Piazza is one of the most well known streets in all of Italy. This is where you will find all the important historic buildings such as the Renaissance structure “Piano Palace”, “Fiori Cathedral ”, “Sixtus Vitelli House” and “Carlo d’Amatrice”. Also if you are looking to see the famous landmarks of Florence during a short break from all the action then you will want to visit “St Clemente Cemetery”. Other buildings to see include “Sistine Chapel”, “Canobile Fountain”, “Piano Church”, “Dyna Square “ (arranged in cooperation with the Legation).

During your visit to Florence you will want to explore all the major attractions such as “Dante’s Inferno”, “Uffizi Museum”, “Tintori Museum” and “Museo di San Marco”. Of course there are plenty of other attractions but these are the most famous. You will also want to take in some local flavor while in Florence. The town is known for the many world-class restaurants that range from the delicious “Amatato” which is made using local ingredients to the exquisite “Cavalli della Porta”. These restaurants offer great food and wine to fit any taste.

Just down from the piazza della signoria you will want to visit the Medici family home “San Lorenzo”. Here you will see the beautiful patio house and palaces that make up the Medici castle. The most famous of these buildings is the “San Lorenzo Maggiore House”. This palace is the birthplace of Medici, the Renaissance ruler who founded Florence. As you can imagine this is one of the most popular museums to visit in Florence. You will also want to visit “Fiori stadium”, “Citta Vecchia” and the “Uffizi Museum”.

Next on your to-visit to Florence are the beautiful “San Lorenzo Square Piazza San Lorenzo” and the “Uffizi Museum”. The “Piazza San Lorenzo” is known as the “Lombardy square” due to its beautiful statue of a Madonna and child. This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Florence where you will see many great frescoes. In the Musee Pierrotoni the world’s largest collection of ancient frescoes can be found. Along with frescoes, the “Uffizi Museum” has fantastic paintings by Michelangelo which can all be seen by visitors to Florence.

As you can see, there is so much more to Florence for tourists every day. Florence is an excellent choice for a romantic weekend or even a week long holiday in Italy.
