15 Best Campgrounds near Providence Rhode Island

A visit to Providence Rhode Island is not complete without experiencing the city’s iconic WaterFire. During this environmental art installation, a hundred bonfires burn atop three rivers. Each fire is accompanied by world or classical music. WaterFire is a wonderful way to celebrate the city’s cultural diversity, and is sure to make your visit to the capital a memorable one. During this free event, locals and tourists alike can enjoy the sights and sounds of the city at night.

When choosing an RV campground in Providence, RI, make sure to consider the location. Paradise Park RV Campground is a popular spot for large RVs, and offers many shaded sites. There are several amenities nearby, including walking trails and a playground. In addition, you can stay at the park’s RV campground if you’re traveling with children. While there are no formal campgrounds in the city, there are plenty of other options for RVs in Rhode Island.

Children’s Museum – For ages 1 to 11, Providence’s Children’s Museum is a must-see for children. There are interactive exhibits like tree houses and “bear caves.” You can also check out the Museum of Natural History & Planetarium. The zoo has 160 animal species, including komodo dragons and red pandas. Families can also enjoy snakes and other animals at Snake Den State Park.

Getting Around Providence – If you’re a city person who prefers to drive, you can explore the many cities in the region within a few hours of Providence. If you’re traveling for business, there’s an abundance of public transportation and car rentals in Providence. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority runs a variety of routes around Providence, and many restaurants offer delivery services. Check out the road conditions around Providence before you set off for a day trip or two.

The West Side – The city’s downtown area is divided into neighborhoods. While “West Side” is an ambiguous term that encompasses adjacent neighborhoods, the area is home to many of the city’s Italian-American communities. The area features a range of restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques – including the infamous Big Nazo Lab. While the window displays make for a fun day out, the artists behind the creations are also open to visitors who want to observe their work.
