15 Best things to Do in Steamboat Springs Colorado

July 11, 2022 | More: Steamboat Springs Colorado| Things to Do

If you want to taste a little bit of the local culture in Steamboat Springs Colorado, check out the Main Street Farmers Market. This event features local produce, live music, and a whole lot of fun. Open on Friday and Saturday from early June to mid-September, this event has something for everyone. You can even get your hands on a few fresh, local produce, and the crowd is usually thin. It’s a great place to grab a bite before the big event!

Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of untouched rivers and alpine lakes full of game fish. There are numerous fly fishing outfitters in Steamboat Springs, and the Yampa River is one of the most popular places to catch a trophy trout. While you’re here, be sure to wear your warmest clothing, as the temperature drops in the wintertime. And don’t worry if you can’t find the fish of your dreams – the fishing in Steamboat Springs doesn’t stop during the coldest months. The best conditions for fishing are overcast and cold days.

If you’re not a skier, you can still enjoy the natural beauty of the area by tubing down the Yampa River. Visitors can float down the river for one to three hours – and can either bring their own tubes or rent them from a local outfitter. The outfitters also provide tubes, life jackets, dry bags, and shuttle services for visitors. Just make sure to check regulations before you head down the river.

Mountain biking is another great way to experience the city’s mountainous scenery. Moots mountain bikes are available to rent, and there are several different biking options. Some of the most popular trails include the Emerald Mountain trail. There are also plenty of hiking opportunities in the area. Check out the Devil’s Causeway, which is also a popular option. You’ll also find some great bike trails in the surrounding towns of Clark and Elkhorn.

You can also take in a performance at the Strings Music Pavilion, which is located in the historic building where the town’s national bank was originally located. The music hall is a fantastic venue for local and regional music and has more than 60 concerts each summer. If you love jazz, you can even join one of their popular summer series concerts. And don’t forget to take a few photos – the orchestra is renowned for their high-energy performances and encourages audience participation.

During the summer, the Howler Alpine Slide is one of the top attractions in Steamboat Springs. This adventure runs over a mile of mountainous terrain and reaches speeds of 27 mph. The ride lasts 10 minutes and is an unforgettable way to see the town from atop the mountain. There are several restaurants on the mountain, and you can even dine at a mountaintop restaurant. However, keep in mind that this experience is not suitable for everyone.
