15 Classic Souvenirs from Mendocino California

May 18, 2022 | More: Mendocino California| Souvenirs

A trip to Mendocino, California, is the perfect way to experience the best of the region’s many attractions. The area is home to breathtaking beaches, rocky sea stacks, and flower-strewn bluff tops. You’ll be awed by the dramatic scenery, especially the sunsets that seem to go on forever. Whether you’re a foodie or just love the natural beauty of Mendocino, you’ll find something to keep you busy.

The weather is similar all year round, with average high temperatures ranging from 53 degrees in January to 57 degrees in August. The dry months are July and September, with rain falling most heavily during December, January, and March. During the fire season, temperatures can be cool, so dress appropriately. Don’t be surprised if the air is foggy or breezy at night. Bring plenty of layers and plenty of warm clothes.

There are many great places to eat and drink in Mendocino, from top-notch restaurants to quaint B&Bs. Take in sweeping coastal views, live music, and fresh produce while you’re there. You can pick up homemade soap and souvenirs, and browse through artisan galleries and boutiques for a one-of-a-kind gift. If you’re planning a road trip to San Francisco, take a look at Point Arena Lighthouse, an hour south of Mendocino.

While you’re in the area, don’t miss the Victorian Village. Situated on the ocean side of California Highway 1, this town is surrounded by state parks and pristine redwoods. You’ll find many unique stores and restaurants, including the famous Gallery Bookshop. A restored building houses Highlights Gallery, a gallery that sells handmade furniture and other art. This small town boasts several photo opportunities, so don’t miss your chance to get away for a while.

You can also enjoy the Mendocino Headlands Music Festival, a fundraiser with world-class musicians. You can even take a stroll to the festival venues from the Headlands Inn B&B. You’ll also find a juried art show, wine and beer tasting, and delicious foods to munch on. The city’s beaches also boast beautiful beaches and abundant outdoor activities. It’s hard to find a bad thing to say in Mendocino!

Wine lovers can sample a variety of wines in Mendocino, including chardonnay and pinot noir, and find an excellent local winery. If you’re interested in buying some wine, you can visit Roederer Estate, which offers magnum tastings and appointments. Handley Cellars is also located near the town and offers walk-in tastings as well as wineries. For something more relaxing, try Handley Vineyards.

Another great thing to do in Mendocino is take a walk along the Big River Trail. The scenic route will take you past historic structures like the old railroad, and you’ll be able to see many birds that live in the area. You’ll also be able to admire the spectacular scenery as you stroll along the Big River. This hiking trail starts at Mendocino Beach. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to sunbathe or take a dip, the rocky cove offers plenty of options for outdoor activities. During low tide, you’ll find small tide pools for kayaking.
