April 19, 2022 | More: Franconia Notch New Hampshire| Why Travel to

If you’re in the mood for a road trip, you can take a scenic drive in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The mountain range is dominated by Mount Lafayette and Cannon Mountain to the west and east. The pass is within the Franconia Notch State Park and is crossed by the Franconia Notch Parkway. In addition to driving the scenic drive, you can hike in the area or ski the slopes of Mount Lafayette.

In 1928, the state purchased 6,000 acres for a park and set up a museum and gift shop. In order to preserve the area, the owners of the historic Profile House decided not to rebuild the building and put the land up for sale. In 1923, the state and the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests put together a fundraising campaign to purchase Franconia Notch for the state. The New Hampshire Federation of Women’s Clubs were heavily involved in the campaign.

The scenic area in Franconia Notch is home to a number of waterfalls. While they may not be the highest waterfalls in the country, most of the hiking trails in the area are relatively easy to complete. The most famous waterfall in the area is Flume Gorge, which is accessible via a steep trail. Whether you’re looking for a scenic hike or a challenging trek, Franconia Notch New Hampshire is the perfect destination for a weekend trip.

There are many things to do in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire. You can hike through the pristine lakes and enjoy the fall foliage. Or you can camp in a cozy campground. In addition to hiking, Franconia Notch State Park is home to a number of other beautiful activities. The park features some of the best views in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
