If you’re planning a visit to Lexington, Virginia, you’ve come to the right place. You’ve decided to stay in the historic district, where the downtown is pedestrian friendly. You’ve also made your reservation at a hotel, but now you’re wondering what to do with all that free time! Here are a few ideas. You can also use the free walking tour maps provided by Historic Lexington. It is a beautiful city with many interesting sites and activities.

The climate in Lexington varies from month to month, with a wetter season lasting about 4.4 months. July, which is the wettest month of the year, has an average of 12.6 days with at least 0.04 inches of precipitation. During the drier season, which lasts from August 26 to April 13, temperatures are slightly colder, with an average temperature of 53.3degF during the summer months. There are fewer days that are cloudy in the winter, and there are only a handful of months with precipitation below the average.

If you want to stay in an historic building, consider staying in one of the several boutique inns in the downtown area. You’ll find plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance of the CBD. For dining, check out TAPS, a fusion of upscale pub fare and craft beer, and Haywood’s, a three-level brick townhouse with five elegant suites. If you’re looking for a more casual setting, try one of Lexington’s ice cream shops.

Whether you’re interested in history or modern architecture, Lexington has plenty to offer. The city is situated in the Shenandoah Valley, about an hour from Waynesboro and Staunton. The Blue Ridge Parkway is an easy drive away, as well as several attractions in Rockbridge County. You can also find several historical buildings in downtown Lexington, including the Stonewall Jackson House, the George C. Marshall Museum, and the Lee Chapel at Washington and Lee.

While visiting Lexington, VA, you can also take advantage of the area’s natural attractions. The area features numerous state parks, hiking trails, and waterfalls. You can also spend the day exploring the Shenandoah Valley from this town. From historic sites to waterfalls to quirky roadside attractions, there’s plenty to keep you busy. No matter what your tastes, you’ll find something fun to do in Lexington, Virginia. If you’re planning a family vacation to Lexington, don’t miss out on the many attractions available in the city.

If you’re visiting this historic town, you should not miss the opportunity to explore the Virginia Military Institute. The school is home to a statue of George Washington, which was erected in 1856. You can tour the cadet assembly hall, and learn about its military history. A 50-minute tour of the VMI campus is led by cadets. You can also check out the museum’s archives and digital collections. While you’re there, don’t miss the Corps of Cadets Parade! It is an impressive display of rifle drills.

In addition to the Stonewall Jackson House, you can visit his home. The Stonewall Jackson House Museum, part of the VMI Museum System, tells the life of the famous Confederate general. There are tours offered daily at 11AM, noon, and 4 PM. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children ages six to seventeen, and free for VMI cadets. The museum has a gift shop and is worth the visit!
