During the Pikes Peak Gold Rush, Georgetown was a popular mining town. Its Victorian blocks were the only ones that were not destroyed by fire. The hydroelectric station in Georgetown has been producing electricity since the early 1900s. Today, the hydroelectric plant serves Georgetown, Silver Plume, and the Henderson mining operations, located north and east of the town. The Georgetown Hydroelectric Station is the second oldest hydroelectric facility in Colorado. There are many other attractions in Georgetown, and you’ll have a great time exploring Georgetown’s rich history. There is also a history museum you can visit.
