Visit Durham, North Carolina for a great vacation or business trip. This city is located in the Research Triangle Region, a burgeoning area of universities and scholarly institutions known for their work in technology and science. The town is home to the neo-Gothic Duke Chapel and Nasher Museum of Art, as well as several museums and wildlife habitats. For art lovers, the Nasher Museum of Art is a must-see, as is the Butterfly House.

Despite its small size, Durham is a popular destination for visitors. The city’s population is estimated at approximately 93,500, and it is home to the world’s oldest university. There are more than 100 restaurants in the Durham area, but most offer a wide selection of cuisine. The downtown core is a great place for a romantic date or a romantic getaway. The town is home to many art galleries, and you can see some amazing pieces of local art in these small businesses.

If you’re visiting Durham for the first time, it’s best to know the city’s layout before you arrive. Although the roadways are similar, they’re miles apart. Using Waze, Google Maps, and locals will help you find your way around without much trouble. The city is also home to two toll roads that connect the southern suburbs to Raleigh Durham International Airport and Research Triangle Park. The signs are also plentiful, so you’ll easily find your way.

If you’re a music lover, Durham is a great place to listen to live music. The city’s musical scene includes everything from bluegrass to jazz to hip hop to punk and metal. Branford Marsalis and the Carolina Chocolate Drops are two of the most popular bands in the area. The American Tobacco District is home to the members of Chatham County Line and Superchunk. They are both excellent places to catch a show.

If you’re interested in buying a unique gift or a new wardrobe, Durham’s retail scene is a must-see. From locally made items to globally recognized brands, Durham is a great place to shop for gifts and souvenirs. Whether you’re looking for something for yourself or a loved one, the city’s retail scene is sure to inspire you. Aside from the vibrant downtown, you’ll also find many great places to eat and drink.

During the early 20th century, Durham became a thriving black community. In particular, the Hayti neighborhood just south of downtown had some of the country’s largest black-owned businesses. In fact, some of the city’s most popular black businesses at that time included the Mechanics & Farmers Bank and the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company. Throughout the town, Parrish St. became known as “Black Wall Street.” In addition to its famous heritage, Durham was also home to Dr. James E. Shepard, who founded the first publically-supported liberal arts college for African-Americans.
