May 13, 2022 | More: Campgrounds| Macon Georgia

There is so much to see in Macon Georgia that you may wonder how to spend your weekend. The city is home to a wide variety of events and festivals, including the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration, the largest Native American gathering in the southeast, and the International Cherry Blossom Festival, when the city’s cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Here are a few of our favorite places to see in Macon. While we can’t describe the fun we had in Macon, we can certainly recommend a few of the attractions that we did in this wonderful city.

Travelers can rent an RV in Macon and visit the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, an area of preserved wetland. You can also participate in educational programs and hunt for animals in the refuge. If you’re interested in Georgia’s Antebellum history, you can tour Jarrell Plantation on the edge of the Refuge. This historical site is part of Macon’s history. While renting a motorhome in Macon, you can also explore the historic town of Jarrell, which was built in 1832.

High Falls State Park is another great place to visit near Macon. The falls in this park are the most spectacular waterfalls in Georgia, and visitors can hike along their edge or even through hill forests to get to the foundation of the local power plant. High Falls, Georgia, was once a thriving industrial town that became a ghost town in the 1880s. Now it’s a popular side trip from Interstate 75 and is home to hiking trails, picnic areas, swimming areas, and geocaching.

The lake at Lake Tobesofkee in Macon is also worth a visit. Its pristine waters are perfect for fishing and boating, and there are many recreational opportunities here. Camping is also an option, with many sites close to the lake. Camping is available at the campground and can cost $30 per night. There are also several restaurants and other places to eat, making it an excellent choice for families. If you are traveling with kids, check out Lake Tobesofkee, which is an excellent place for families.

If you’re visiting Macon, don’t miss out on visiting Macon’s museums. The Tubman Museum is a fascinating place for people of all ages. Dedicated to African American history, the museum is also the largest African American cultural museum in the Southeast. You can also check out the Georgia Music Hall of Fame to see the many artists who performed in the Georgia city. There’s even a water fountain for dogs.

As far as the weather goes, Macon has a subtropical climate. Temperatures average 46.3 degF in January and 81.8 degrees in July. In addition, there are 4.8 days with temperatures over 100 degrees and 83 days with temperatures above ninety degrees. Despite the cold winters, there are still some days of high humidity. The temperature remains mild and comfortable, allowing residents to grow their crops and take advantage of the abundant resources.
