Gig Harbor is a city and bay on the shore of Puget Sound in Pierce County, Washington. The population is approximately 12,026 people as of the 2020 census. The population was 7,126 in 2010. Gig Harbor is one of the oldest settlements in Washington State and is home to a large sailing community. Approximately 6,000 people live in Gig Harbour. As of 2010, there were a little over 4,000 residents living there.

Gig Harbor is close to many major cities and attractions. It is a 30-minute drive from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Guests can also spend the day on the beach at sunrise, which is the most popular beach in town. The water here is often murky, but the sand is still pristine. A trip to the beach is a great way to get a feel for the area. The town’s waterfront offers endless views of the mountains and water.

For a taste of Gig Harbor history, head to the Harbor Museum. The exhibits at this museum contextualize many aspects of the local harbor. During our visit, we spent about half of our time at the Museum, and we were able to learn more than we expected. And if you are traveling with kids, don’t forget to plan a visit to the museum. Its interactives helped us make connections that are not only educational but also entertaining.

Whether you are interested in the area’s indigenous people, pioneer shipbuilders, or fishing history, this museum offers hands-on exhibits and a wide variety of activities for visitors. For those with children, a trip to the Museum is a great way to make memorable memories. A visit to this fascinating place will give them an unforgettable vacation.
