15 Typical Gifts from Golden Colorado

May 11, 2022 | More: Golden Colorado| Souvenirs

A former gold rush town, Golden Colorado is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. There are several things to see and do in the area, including the Clear Creek Trail, which follows the waterway and passes the Clear Creek White Water Park, a kayaking course. Visit the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, which houses exhibits on earth sciences. If you’re a train buff, take the train to the Colorado Railroad Museum, where you can ride vintage trains and see the 1800s-style railroad depot.

Golden is accessible by car from Denver and Boulder. Highway 93 south connects the two cities, and Highway 6 leads directly to Golden. Highway 6 also connects to Interstate 70. If you’re coming from the Denver area, Interstate 76 west merges with Interstate 70 west, and then exits onto Highway 58, which leads directly to Golden. You can also take C-470 west. Once you’ve made your way into the town, you’ll be able to take a self-guided walking tour of the city.

For those who like craft beer, Golden has several options for you. The Golden City Brewery is a local favorite. Owned by Charlie and Janine Sturdavant, Golden City Brewery has been around for more than 25 years. What began as a backyard brewing project has become a neighborhood social space. You can catch a weekly street party at the brewery and try some local cuisine at their food truck. If you’re traveling with children, be sure to bring them to this downtown Golden establishment.

The city’s historic district has a number of attractions worth seeing. Besides the historic buildings, you can visit the American Mountaineering Center, which houses the American Alpine Club, Colorado Mountain Club, and Outward Bound. The American Mountaineering Center is home to the world’s largest mountaineering library and Bradford Washburn American Museum. The center offers many programs throughout the year. Golden is a great place for art enthusiasts to visit.

In addition to the historic downtown district, Golden is home to the Colorado School of Mines, one of the best public engineering schools in the country. Visitors can enjoy scenic campus scenery while on a visit to the Mines Museum of Earth Science, a museum that features over 60,000 items. The museum also features a Moon rock brought to Earth by the Apollo 17 mission. The museum also offers a wide variety of interesting geological specimens. In addition to being an exciting place to visit, Colorado School of Mines also offers many unique gifts and souvenirs.

If you are looking for a vacation destination, Golden is the place to go. This picturesque mountain town is just a twenty-minute drive from Denver. However, it feels like a world away. Several tourists flock to Golden for a day trip from the city. With its quaint town vibe, Golden is a perfect place for a day trip from the city. Just be sure to plan time to see everything this town has to offer.
