March 21, 2022 | More: Florence Oregon| Places to Visit

Located at the mouth of the Siuslaw River, Florence is a small town in the coastal Oregon region. Among the top sights here are the Sea Lion Caves where Steller sea lions live, the restored 19th century Heceta Head Lighthouse, and the Historic Old Town district with its shops. A short drive away is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, where you can go hiking, fishing, or camping. This city is a great place to visit for a day out with the family.

Near the town center, you can walk along the boardwalk that runs along the Siuslaw River. The boardwalk trail is relatively flat and is a popular choice for families with young children. The trail leads past beautiful art installations, including local and regional artists. The town’s unique art and souvenir shops make the town’s colorful landscapes even more enchanting. If you’re hungry, take a picnic lunch to a quaint café and enjoy a meal.

The Siuslaw River and nearby dunes are two other reasons to visit Florence. The town also has a dozen pristine lakes within a dozen miles. And there’s a vibrant Old Town district where you can spend the day shopping, dining at local restaurants, and drinking local craft beer. The city’s downtown area is a wonderful place to spend a day exploring this charming coastal city. There are many in-town attractions, including the historic district, museum, and waterfront park.
