15 Reasons Why you should Stay in Golden Colorado

April 26, 2022 | More: Why Travel to

If you’ve never visited the town of Golden, Colorado, you may not know what to expect. The town is a former gold rush town in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The town’s Clear Creek Trail winds along a waterway and passes Clear Creek White Water Park, a kayaking course that can be accessed from the trail. There’s also the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, which features exhibits on earth science. There’s also the Colorado Railroad Museum, which features vintage trains and a railroad depot built in the 1800s.

The town’s downtown is an active hub of community life and features a variety of historical buildings, including an old school and a blacksmith shop. Costumed interpreters provide a history lesson about life in late 19th century Colorado. The historic buildings are also a great place to take pictures, peep through windows and feed chickens! Information panels are located throughout the district, allowing visitors to learn more about the town’s history.

The city is 12 miles from downtown Denver. Although it is a short drive to any part of Metro Denver, the atmosphere in Golden is entirely different. Summer temperatures average in the high 80s, while winters are chilly, averaging in the low 50s. Visiting Golden is a great place to see the sights and enjoy Colorado’s nearly perfect weather. While it’s near-perfect year-round, it’s still worth exploring this town, especially for families.

Located just 12 miles from downtown Denver, Golden offers small-town delights as well as history. The Colorado Railroad Museum and Buffalo Bill Museum are a great way to learn about Golden’s past. Golden also offers numerous hiking trails and the Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which offers tubing and kayaking. During the summer, you’ll want to visit the Clear Creek White Water Park for kayaking and tubing. In the winter, there are a number of winter sports, including snowshoeing and hiking.

Taking a bike ride through the countryside is another excellent way to enjoy Golden. Clear Creek is a paved bike and hiking trail that follows it. A paved biking and hiking trail follows the creek and allows for tubers to float downstream and walk upstream. The trail also offers plenty of manmade tubing and kayaking chutes along its river. It’s one of the best ways to see the beautiful landscapes of the Front Range.

While you’re in the area, you can also check out Golden’s many art galleries. Spirits in the Wind Gallery offers a variety of Western art and local businesses. Whether you’re an art lover or just interested in history, you’ll find something to interest you. Its beautiful artwork is sure to make your trip a memorable one. Soak up the sights in Golden, Colorado, and make a trip to Golden. You’ll be glad you did!

Beer lovers should not miss visiting the Coors Brewery in Golden, the oldest brewery in the world. The brewery opened in 1873 and has been producing beer for more than 130 years. Guided tours of the brewery include free samples for those of legal age. You can also sample beer at some of the local breweries. The Coors Brewery is also home to more than two dozen restaurants. In addition to visiting the brewery, you can experience Colorado’s renowned craft beer scene.
