15 Typical Gifts from Milan

October 25, 2021 | More: Milan| Souvenirs

Milan, an ancient metropolis in Italy’s far northern Lombardy region, is today a major international commercial hub, home to the prestigious national stock market. It is also renowned as a cultural hub, home to a number of museums and galleries that display the varied arts and crafts traditions of the country. The famous architectural landmark of Milan, the Duomo, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Gothic Duomo, home to the world-famous painted fresco by Da Vinci, and the Santa Maria Elena, the largest building in the city, both recognized as important tourist attractions.

Another reason why tourists like to visit Milan is its beautiful traditional churches. Besides the famous cathedral, the sodden, almost ruined, Duomo and Santa Maria dell Grazie, are must-see landmarks. Other significant church structures in the city include the Santa Maria Novella, the sainted basilica of San Miniato d’Amatrice and the Duomo of Milan. Tourists can also go to the medieval villages of Amatave, Colli, and Modena, which are popular for walking or horseback riding.

If you are looking for the best time to visit Milan, the most ideal season to visit is from the spring to autumn. The weather in Milan is warm during the spring and this makes it the best time to visit the many modern and old buildings in the city. During summer, the weather in Milan is quite hot with hot summers and colder winters, making it the perfect time to visit some of the traditional and modern attractions in the city.

When visiting the city center, you will find yourself in a different world altogether. Milan is home to some of the best, oldest and most exciting museums and art galleries in Italy. Among these are the Uffizi Museum, Palazzo Reale, and the Duomo. In addition, the famous St. Croce Bridge is just an hour away by car. Other attractions worth checking out while in Milan include the Duomo, St. Tone Cathedral, and Santa Maria Novella.

Just a stones throw from Milan is the charming little town of Sforza. Sforza is home to numerous historic buildings, some dating back to the eleventh century, such as the Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, and the St. Croce Bridge. As it is situated so close to Milan, there are a number of tourist attractions within driving distance, including the Sforza Airport, the Sforza Castle, and the Sforza river. The Sforza region holds several museums as well that tourists are urged to take the time to tour.

The Milan cathedral, orretti, is also worth a visit. Built in 1530 by the Order of the Hospital of Sant’ Antonino, the Milan cathedral is one of the largest and most impressive churches in the world. It attracts thousands of visitors every year, including people from the western part of Italy.
